Real Weather: It's instant and local at Kentucky Mesonet

With single click access from CM

If you want to see weather numbers in real time, it's available with a single click from the CM Weather box, which also gives single click access to the National News Service in Louisville for Burkesville, Campbellsville, Columbia, Edmonton, Greensburg, Jamestown, Liberty, and Russell Springs, KY.

Mesonet stations are reporting readings in 5 minute intervals for air temperature, relative humidity, dewpoint, wind direction, wind speed mph, precipitation, and solar radiation.

Once at any of the five stations in the seven county CM area, it's easy to use a drop down list of stations, or just click on a map point to go to any other in the state. There are stations in Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Metcalfe (near the Barren County line) and Taylor (near the Green County line).

This morning at 2:30amCT/3:30amET, the air temperatures showed a 5.3 degree difference between the frigid Casey County reading of 18.8 degrees F., and the relatively balmy 24.1 degree F. in Cumberland County. Other readings were Taylor County, 19.1 degrees F; Adair County 21.1; and Metcalfe 21.4.

Some of the difference in readings is in elevations of the weather stations. Metcalfe's is highest at 1,002 feet, Casey's next at 958 feet; Adair at 848 feet, Taylor County at 785, with Cumberland County's station at 551 feet, the lowest.
