Many CU students attending Presidential Inauguration

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY--Campbellsville University students will travel to Washington, DC later this week for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration taking place Monday, January 21, 2013.




CU's Phi Alpha Theta, a history honor society, is part of the group attending the inauguration. The following will travel with Campbellsville University to the 2013 Presidential Inauguration in Washington, DC: Dr. Lindsay Anderson of Campbellsville, KY, assistant professor of sociology; Tyler Arterburn of Scottsville, KY; Tori Banks of Elizabethtown, KY; Morgan Benningfield of Campbellsville, KY; Kaylynn Best of Harrodsburg, KY;

Dr. Lindsay Anderson, assistant professor of sociology; Dr. Shawn Williams, assistant professor of political science; Christine Cundiff, secretary for Division of Social Science and secretary for Division of Science; and Dr. Wendy Davis, associate professor of history are leading the trip.

The official theme for the 2013 inauguration is "Faith in America's Future," commemorating the United States' perseverance and unity, marking the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the placement of the Statue of Freedom atop the Capitol Dome in 1863.

An estimated 1.8 million people attended the 2009 Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama, a record breaking number for any event in the nation's capital, according to the inauguration's website inauguration.dc.gov.
