John M. Martin, Casey County, KY (1929-2013)

He was a native of Lancaster County, PA, and the patriarch of a large, highly regarded South Fork of Casey County area family. He was a farmer and member of the Cedar Lane Old Order Mennonite Church in Casey County, KY.

John M. Martin passed away Wednesday January 2, 2013 at his home in Casey County, KY. He was 83.

Funeral services are at 8:45amCT/9:45amET, Saturday January 5, 2013 at the Cedar Lane Old Order Mennonite Church in Casey County, KY. Visitation is 1pm-5pmCT/2pm-6pmET. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Paul Burkholder's home at 9431 KY 501 South, in Casey County, KY. Burial will be at New Haven Cemetery in Spencer, TN.



John M. Martin, Casey County, KY (1929-2013)

Born July 4, 1929 in Lancaster County, PA., he was the son of the late Aaron and Mary Horst Martin. He died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in Casey County, KY, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 29 days.

He was a farmer and member of the Cedar Lane Old Order Mennonite Church in Casey County, KY. Survivors include his wife, Katie B. Hoover Martin of Liberty, KY, and the following;
  • Six children: Mary Martin of Liberty, KY; Martha, wife of Martin Brubaker of Elkton, KY, Ada, wife of Ephraim Burkholder of Liberty, KY; Aaron Martin of Cerulean, KY, Edna, wife of Melvin Hoover of Dundee, NY, and Adam Martin of Leola, PA

  • Forty-one grandchildren

  • Two brothers, Isaac and Levi Martin, both of PA

  • Two sisters, Susanna, wife of Ezra Sensenig and Hettie, wife of John Wenger, both of PA.
He is preceded in death by a son, Paul Martin.
