She was a native of Cumberland County, KY, the daughter of the late Culbert and Ethel Groce Riddle, and the widow of the late Hershell W. Coop and the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Sarah H. Coop age 89 years of Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 at 9:25pmCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center, Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2pmCT/3pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating Rev. Steve Pescosolido & Rev. P. T. Barnum. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4pmCT/5pmET, Thursday, at the funeral home.

She was born on Wednesday, April 17, 1923 in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Culbert and Ethel Groce Riddle. She died Monday, December 24, 2012, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 89 years, 8 months, and 7 days. She was the the widow of Hershel W. Coop who preceded her in death on May 10, 1982.

She is survived by The following:
  • One daughter: Betty Coop of Columbia, KY.

  • One step son: Willie Van Coop and his wife Ophelia of Louisville, KY

  • Two step daughters: Helen Melton of Charlestown, Indiana, and Marie Cantrell of Louisville, KY

  • One daughter in law: Sara Frances Coop of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Gene Riddle of Greensburg, KY. and Sherman Riddle of Indiana

  • Four sisters: Maxie Kingrey and Mary Crumpton of Summer Shade, KY; Nina Birge of Gamalia, KY, and Noxie Coffey of Glasgow, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Several great grandchildren

  • Several great great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends survive
She was preceded in death by two infant sons Carl and Robert Coop; two step sons Fred Coop and Ray Coop; one brother and four sisters Leo Riddle, Hettie Rush, Cleo Miller, Bell Melton and Lucy Rouse. Send a condolence to the family of Sarah H. Coop
