I wanted to share with your readers the project the sixth graders have been working on at ACES in science class this past week.

Three dimensional/sculpture art was integrated into science as the sixth graders learned how to make molds of plant life they had found around their homes.

Then, they learned to mix plaster and cast it to make things a little more permanent! The students are just wrapping up their Plant Growth and Responses unit, and so the children and I all thought it’d be great to get a little messy and artistic!

The project was funded by a DirecTV company in Segundo, California through a website called DonorsChoose.com. It was truly a blessing. And as you can see from Kelsey Redford’s face, we are all smiles about being artistic and getting our hands dirty in Science!

Special thanks goes to Mrs. Paula Bault for her guidance, and also to Mrs. Debra Wimmer from ACHS for suggesting this idea and helping me teach the children how to mold and cast! - Rachel Bardin

Science and Art used together by ACES Sixth Graders

An Art/Science project at ACES financed by an increasingly popular no-nonsense, 100% to cause DonorsChoose.com gift from a DirectTv dealer in Segundo, CA, has proven to be innovative and a lot of fund.
