She was a member of the Liberty First Baptist Church and served in various roles at the church. Shirley Jean Peyton passed away Thursday November 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. She was 68.

Funeral services are 1pmET/12 noon CT, Monday December 3, 2012 at the Liberty First Baptist Church, 300 Hustonville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial is at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday 6pm-9pmET/5pm-8pmCT, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, and Monday at the First Baptist Church from 11:30amET/10:30amCT, until funeral service.



Shirley Jean Peyton, Casey County, KY (1944-2012)

She was born August 15, 1944 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late William Everett and Mildred Turner Hancock. She died Thursday, November 29, 2012, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 14 days.

She was a member of the Liberty First Baptist Church and served in various roles at the church. Shirley served on the Casey County Library committee as well as several other committees in and around Liberty, KY.

She was the widow of Luther "Luke" Peyton, who passed away May 7, 2000.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter: Stephanie Peyton of Nicholasville, KY

  • Step sons: Luke Peyton II of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lester Peyton of Goshen, Ohio

  • Step daughters: Pam Heldman and Joy Hughes both of Indianapolis, Indiana

  • Sister: Helen (George) Burnett of Liberty Township, Ohio

  • And a host of nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a step-son, Rodney Peyton.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Casey County Library.
