Rev. James D. Small, Russell County, KY (1946-2012)

He was a native of McHenry, Ohio County, KY. He had been pastor of the Bernard Ridge Church of God in the Eller Community of Russell Springs for 22 years at the time of his death. He leaves four direct living descendants

Rev. James D. Small, age 66, of Stephens Ridge Road, Russell Springs, KY died Sunday, November 19, 2012, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Funeral service for Rev. James Small will be at 10amCT, Wednesday, October 21, 2012, at the Bernard Ridge Church of God, Russell Springs, KY, with Rev. Aaron Phillips and Bishop Bruce Rabon officiating. Visitation will start at 3pmCT, Tuesday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Beaver Dam, Ohio County, KY.


Pallbearers: Nathan Skaggs, Jeff Warner, Phillip Oaks, Paul Aaron, Sam Holt, Daniel Hill, Paul Tate, Chad Aaron, and Harry Kempa.

He was born June 12, 1946 at McHenry, Ohio County, KY. He was the son of the late Jesse and Emogene Goff Small. He died Sunday, November 19, 2012, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 66 years, 5 months, and 7 days.

He was the pastor of Bernard Ridge Church of God for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Marlowe Small, and the following:
  • Two sons: Marty Small, Rockport, KY, and Steve Small, Beaver Dam, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Noah Small and Tyler Asberry

  • Two sisters: Diane Steffey, Illinois; Karen Knight, Madisonville, KY

  • One brother: Phillip Small, Iowa
