COLUMBIA, KY - A 17-3 run to open the second half propelled the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team to an 86-49 win over visiting Mid-Continent (Mayfield, KY) University on Friday night, November 2, 2012, at Biggers Sports Center.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Blue Raiders (1-0) dominated the second stanza on both ends of the court. Lindsey Wilson shot nearly 53 percent after the break while limiting the Cougars (1-2) to just 15.2 percent (5-for-33) from the floor.

For the game, Mid-Continent shot 25.8 percent, including just 4-for-28 (14.3 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc.

While the Cougars were struggling from the floor, the Lindsey Wilson offense was clicking as three players scored in double figures.

Sarah Collins led Lindsey Wilson with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting in her Blue Raider debut. She added eight rebounds and three assists in the win. Ashley Rainey contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds during her 21 minutes on the court. She made all but one of her seven shots in the game.

Emily Meeks provided a double-double -- 16 points and 10 rebounds -- one night after her Blue Raider volleyball team won on the same Biggers Sports Center court over Indiana University Southeast. Meeks -- playing her first game for the Blue Raider basketball team -- made 5-of-7 shots from the field and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.

The Collins, Rainey and Meeks trio helped the Blue Raiders win the scoring battle inside the paint 52-20. Lindsey Wilson also picked up 35 second-chance points thanks to 21 offensive rebounds. The Blue Raiders ended the night out-rebounding the Cougars 55-39.

With its run out of the locker room, the Blue Raiders turned a five-point lead into a 19-point bulge. Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to as many 37 en route to the win.

In the first half, Mid-Continent raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game. The Blue Raiders took their first lead of the game (8-7) with 14:13 left in the half on Jadelyn Proffitt's layup. Proffitt scored nine points off the bench.

Lindsey Wilson would extend its first-half lead to as many as 10 points (33-23) before the Cougars closed the half with a 7-2 run.

Stephanie Malone led the Cougars with 20 points and 15 rebounds while Breona Houston added 12.
