Cass Davenport Kosair sculpture presented to packed house The busy father of a little boy who is already giving back so much to the community - and who has the promise of so much in the future - pauses to give thanks and to share an inspirational thanksgiving to so many, including 'the guys in those cool red fez hats who spend countless hours raising money' for one of America's great causes, Kosair Charities. He shares the emotional unveiling of his wife Cass' wonderful Kosair sculpture, presented to oohs and ahs. It's all for an unforgettable, lovable, intelligent, witty and happy ACES student, Cass and Todd's son: Lash Davenport Click on headline for complete story, photos By Todd Davenport Rarely do I take the time to slow down and put things into true perspective, but in times such as these it becomes a much needed re-focus. Recently my family was invited to Kosair Charities Gifts and Grants night in Louisville, KY. It is an overwhelming display of care, concern, compassion and true unselfishness in regards to the needs of others. I had no idea what I was in store for or the way my outlook on the importance of things in my life could change so quickly. Many of you know my wife Cayce and I were blessed 6 years ago with the birth of our son, Lashley Alton Davenport. He was born with bi-lateral microtia, undeveloped ears, and an overdeveloped sense of self worth mixed with a bit of attitude. Through the years Lash has made many trips to doctors throughout Louisville and has had multiple stays at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY. With the support of family, friends, community and Kosair Charities, Lash continues to make great strides in his personal growth and development, lest you ask the staff at ACES whom we can never thank enough for their continued work with our son. My wife Cass ,"the artist" in the bunch, made a presentation at this event. She worked tirelessly with the help of a couple of great guys, Brian Hargrove and Brian Alexander, to put together a sculpture for Kosair Charities. It was presented to a packed house with oohs and ahhs and true appreciation for the time and talent which went into the piece. Cass gave of herself to give back to an organization that no amount of thanks or money could ever repay. If you ever wonder what this group is capable of or what they contribute, there are countless stories right here in our own community where they have helped children and families overcome insurmountable obstacles. In writing I wanted to brag on my wife, the Brians and all the fine folks that work with Kosair Charities for giving the gifts of themselves which becomes a gift for others. Most of all to say thanks. - Thanks to the families who support the children in need.- Todd D. Davenport This story was posted on 2012-10-30 04:27:07
