The Crossing, at CUMC, inaugural service has amazing turnout

Louise Brock, right in photo at left taken during Christmas 2011, found The Crossing's inaugural service at Columbia United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 21, 2012 to measure up. She's with her daughter, Marsha Walker, in the photo

By Neil Janes, Pastor, Columbia United Methodist Church

The Crossing at Columbia United Methodist Church got off to a great start. We had almost 150 people at the contemporary service this past Sunday and 82 at the 9amCT Traditional Service.

I was amazed at the turnout.

It will naturally level out over the next couple weeks, but it was a great start!

There were lots of new people there, people who we hadn't seen in months and people from area churches just supporting our new service.

There was an energy and excitement I had not seen in some time.

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update.

One of the neat things was when Louise Brock came out of The Crossing in her wheelchair. I asked her what she thought about the music.

She responded, "It was exciting!"

That was really cool. Best Regards, --Neil Janes

Columbia United Methodist Church, 202 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY, now has Traditional Services at 9amCT, Sunday School at 10amCT, and The Crossing, the contemporary service, at 11amCT.
