The Story of Our Place Thrift Shop - Greensburg, KY Celebrating 15 years of service on November 1, 2012 By Diane Hall, President Our Place Thrift Shop, 624 Columbia Highway, Greensburg, KY On November 1, 1997, a small group of women and men, led by Sister Virginia Bauer, opened a thrift store. But this was not just any thrift shop. No, when we opened, we had no money, just people with faith, who saw a need and stepped up to try to meet that need. Volunteers painted, ironed clothes, made signs , opened the store to customers and asked for grants. We opened the doors on November 1, 1997, and never looked back. Money we make from sales are given back to the community. Donations are made to the Green County Library, The Food Pantry, Family Resource Center, Youth Service Center, the Upward Program, Green County American Legion Park, SOS Club, Angel Tree, Back to School Fest and more. We now have a manager, Eleta Johnson, and several volunteers who work to keep things running smoothly. Our Place Thrift Shop, 624 Columbia Highway, Greensburg, KY is open 9am-4pmCT, on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9am-1pmCT, on Saturday. We accept good used clothing and household items any day that we are open. This would not have been successful without the help of the community. We so appreciate every person who has donated items, donated money and donated their time. We are excited and looking forward to the next 15 years! - Diane Hall, President This story was posted on 2012-10-23 15:04:05
