Earnest Murphy, age 77, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Wednesday October 17, 2012, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY. Visitation will be held 5pmET/4pmCT, Friday, October 19, 2012 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 Hwy 49, Liberty, KY. Funeral services will be held 1pmET/12pm noon CT, Saturday October 20, 2012 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Monty Lynn officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with military rites performed by the Casey County Funeral Squad.



Earnest Murphy, Casey County, KY (1935-2012)

He was born in Liberty, KY, on February 14, 1935. He was a son of the late Tommy and Gertie Carr Murphy. He died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

He was a former mechanic with Liberty Sportswear and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; Rose Davis Murphy, and the following:
  • One daughter: Jennifer Godbey of Liberty, KY

  • One son; Jeff Murphy of Liberty, KY

  • Four grandchildren; Emily Fox, Erin Murphy, Natalie Fox and Katie Murphy

  • Two great grandchildren: Stella and Vivian Fox

  • Three brothers: Osburn Murphy of Gosport, IN; Jesse Murphy of Liberty, KY; and Otis Murphy of Mooresville, IN
  • And one sister: Doris Santee of Indianapolis, IN
  • Preceding him in death was a sister; Sylvia Peyton.
