He was a highly respected citizen of Adair County, KY, and the patriarch of a large, highly regarded family. He leaves 24 direct and 5 step living descendants. He was a retired logger, who owned and operated Jake Willis & Son for over 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Jacob "Jake" Willis, 86, of Columbia, KY, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 3:17pmCT, at his home from injuries received in an ATV accident at his residence on October 4, 2012.

The fuuneral service will be Monday, October 15, 2012 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Kenneth Willis and Bro. Jonathan Willis officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Sunday, October 14, 2012.



Casket Bearers: Jeff Herron, Keven Willis, Rodney Ford, Hobbie Richard, Kasey Loy, and Steve Willis.

Honorary: Trevor Willis, Josh Warf.


Jacob (Jake) Willis, Adair County, KY (1926-2012)


He was born Monday, July 12, 1926, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the the late Norman Willis and the late Leila Clark Willis. He died Thursday, October 11, 2012, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 30 days.

He was a retired logger, owning Jake Willis & Son Logging for over 40 years. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Sneed Willis of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Four sons: Mike (Treasa) Willis, Ricky (Helen) Willis, Mark (Debbie) Willis all of Columbia, KY, and David (Penny) Willis of Custer, KY

  • One daughter: Ann (Doug) Cox of Campbellsville, KY

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Five step grandchildren

  • Nine great grandchildren

  • Several nephews and nieces and friends
