Abbie Lee Garner Capps, age 97 of La Grange, Kentucky formerly of Burkesville, KY passed away on Tuesday, October 09, 2012 at The Richwood Nursing Home in La Grange, KY.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11amCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in the Modoc Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY. Family requests visitation 5pm-9pmCT, on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.



Abbie Lee Garner Capps, Cumberland Co., KY (1915-2012)

She was born Friday, April 09, 1915 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Bertha Poindexter Garner. She died Tuesday, October 9, 2012, in La Grange, Oldham County, KY, at the age of 97 years, six months.

She was a retired employee of the Oldham County Board of Education and was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Flowers, two granddaughters, Deborah Flowers and Theresa Capps Thompson, and one daughter-in-law, Shirley Capps.

Survivors include the following:
  • Four sons: Clarence Larry Capps of Pineville, KY: Ralph Capps and his wife Betty of Lebanon Junction, KY: and Chattin Capps and Keith Capps both of La Grange, KY

  • One daughter: Faye Swanner and her husband Larry of La Grange, KY

  • One brother: Billy Frank Garner of Burkesville, KY

  • One sister: Madine Wright and her husband Herbert of Indianapolis, IN

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Nineteen great grandchildren

  • Sixteen great great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
