Mrs. Wanda Akin Estes, Green Co., KY (1948-2012)

She was a native of Green County and the matriarch of a highly regarded family with deep ties in Green, Taylor and Adair Counties. Mrs. Estes had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a sewing machine operator at Campbellsville Apparel.

Mrs. Wanda Akin Estes, 64, departed this life Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Golden Living Center/Green Hill Manor in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral service will be at 11amCT/12amET, Monday, October 8, 2012, at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 West Court Street, Greensburg, KY, with Dr. Gary Ervin the officiating clergy. Burial will be in the Bethelehem Bethlehem Cemetery, by Bethlehem Baptist Church, 526 Temperance Road, Greensburg, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT/6pmCT, Sunday, October 7, 2012 and after 7amCT/8pmET, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Andy Estes, Dale Estes, Jacob Estes, Roger Neagle, Terry Paxton, Bryan Akin Honorary Pallbearers: Terry Neagle, Jamie Russell, Nick Paxton, John Aaron, Rudy Rucker, Bobby Estes, Donna Estes, Barbara Neagle, Lottie Curtis, Reba Witty, and Debra Sprowles.

Mrs. Wanda Akin Estes was born March 3, 1948 in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of Robert O. Akin and the late Claris Henderson Akin. She departed this life Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Greensburg, Green County, KY, having attained the age of 64 years, 7 months and 3 days.

Mrs. Estes had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a sewing machine operator at Campbellsville Apparel.

Besides her mother she is preceded in death by one brother: Phillip Darrell Akin.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Estes and the following:
  • One daughter: Mashonda Renee Lanier of Greensburg, KY

  • Two stepsons: Anthony Wayne and Carrie Estes of Columbia, KY; and Jerry Dale and Erin Beth Estes of Campbellsville, KY

  • One step daughter: Patricia Gail Bradley of Campbellsville, KY

  • And five grandchildren: Jacob, Autumn, Cameron, Alex and Eric./li>
Donations are requested to Bethlehem Baptist Church Youth Department, Choir or TV Ministries. These can be made at the funeral home.
