Columbia/Adair part of statewide bike ride across Kentucky GABRAKY: Governor's Autumn Bike Ride across KY Click on headlline for story, list of visitors at LWC, and photo(s) By Duane Bonifer News from Lindsey Wilson College More than four dozen cyclists rode through Adair County Sunday morning. The cyclists were part of the ninth-annual Governor's Autumn Bicycle Ride Across Kentucky, held October 4-7, 2012. GABRAKY - which is sponsored in part by Lindsey Wilson College - is a four-day event that teams up with Kentucky State Parks to give cyclists a tour of some of Kentucky's most scenic back roads. This year's ride - which attracted 50 cyclists from nine states - covered about 250 miles from General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton, KY, and concluded at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park in Cumberland County, KY More than 30 of this year's GABRAKY cyclists stopped Sunday morning in Columbia for brunch at LWC's Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center and to also tour the college's John B. Begley Chapel. GABRAKY raises money for the historic Grand Theatre, a 428-seat community arts center staffed by volunteers in downtown Frankfort, KY A portion of the ride's proceeds also support WalkBike Frankfort, a group that helps build bicycle-pedestrian paths in Kentucky's capital city.
