Marcella Vibbert Dodson, Summer Shade, KY, (d. Oct. 3, 2012)

She was the matriarch of a respected Metcalfe County, KY, family, the wife of Morris Dodson, who survives. She leaves seven direct living descendants. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Era Elmore Vibbert and a member of the Cedar Flat Cumberland Presbyterian Church

Marcella Vibbert Dodson, age 61 of Summer Shade, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Monroe Co. Medical Center, in Tompkinsville, KY.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 7, 2012, at 2pmCT at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with Bro. Roger Poynter and Bro Nathan Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Friday, October 5 and will continue through Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the funeral home.


She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Era Elmore Vibbert and a member of the Cedar Flat Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Morris Dodson and the following;
  • Three sons: Shane (Bridgett) Dodson, of Summer Shade, KY; Terry Dodson of Edmonton, KY; and Steven Dodson of Summer Shade, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Chloe Dodson, Cassie Dodson, Kinsley Dodson and Kyle Dodson

  • Five sisters: Shirley (Bobby) Glover, Dean Harper, Marie (Mack) Warren Kathy Franklin(Willie Rich) all of Summer Shade, KY; and Barbara (Jim) Crump of Glasgow, KY
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Jill Harper, nephew, James Dubree and brother in law, Raymond Harper.

Memorials may be made to the Summer Shade Fire Dept. c/o McMurtrey Funeral Home at 2232 Summer Shade Rd.Summer Shade,Ky. 42166.
