Full details for replacing AC School Board member not yet ready

Division 1 Adair County School Board Vacancy: Kentucky Commissioner of Education Terry Holliday decision may not come for 90 days or so, following defined process yet to be announced. But superintendent expects applications may be available at Cenral Office in 10 days-two weeks time

By Ed Waggener

Superintendent Alan Reed says that he expects that the process for replacing School Board Member Rebecca Turner (Div 1), who resigned, may not be fully announced until mid-October.

The new board member will come from recommendations of a three member panel at the Kentucky Department of Education, with the final choice the prerogative of Kentucky Commissioner Terry Holliday, Mr. Reed said.

Applications will be available at a later date for pickup at the Adair County Board of Education, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. "When they are ready," Mr. Reed said, "We'll be announcing it in all the local media - newspapers, radio - any way we can get the word out - " he said.

His best estimate on the time needed to fill the position is approximately 90 days - maybe as soon as the composition of the new 2013 Board is sworn in. Only one board position, that of Division 3 Member Joseph Payne, is not open.
