Esther Ooten, Cumberland Co., KY, native

She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family with deep roots in Cumberland County, KY, and beyond. She was the wife of Roy C. Ooten, who preceded her in death by just a few brief hours. She leaves 18 direct living descendants. She and her husband Roy Ooten were joined in love on this earth for 69 years and in heaven forever.

Esther Wright Ooten, age 86 of Glasgow, KY passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012 at N.H.C. Healthcare Center in Glasgow.

Joint funeral services Monday, October 01, 2012 at 2pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, KY with burial in the Modoc Cemetery. Family requests visitation from 11am-9pmCT on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Joshua Green, Coty Lynn, Jordan Medley, Wayne Likens, Jerry Ooten, and Freddie Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers: Bryant Green, Randall Vincent, and Donald Cash

Esther Ooten, Cumberland Co., KY, native


Esther was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Myrtie Scott Wright. She died Friday, September 28, 2012, at N.H.C. Healthcare in Glasgow.

She was a former employee of Kentucky Pants Factory and a volunteer at TJ Samson Community Hospital for voer 20 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy C. Ooten early the same day, and two brothers, Calvin Preston Wright and Sherman Wright.

She and her husband Roy Ooten were joined in love on this earth for 69 years and in heaven forever.

Survivors include:
  • Two Daughters: Brenda Green and her husband Bryant of Glasgow, Kentucky and Shirley Terry of Linwood, Kentucky

  • Six grandchildren: Pam (Jeff) Medley, Richard (Leslie) Green, Dianna (Ken) Hutcherson, Kelly (Darrell) Shake, Tonika Meredith, Tyra Bentley

  • Nine great grandchildren

  • And one great great grandchild

  • One brother: Herbert Wright and his wife Madene, of Indianapolis, IN

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
