He was a popular figure in Adair County, KY and will be greatly missed. He was known for his friendly way and for his enthusiastic conversational style. He operated an independent lawn business around Columbia for several years, with many clients who entrusted their yards to his care

Leon Cravens, 71, of Columbia, KY, died Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:22pmCT, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

Funeral services will be Monday, September, 24, 2012 at 2pmCT,. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Gene Conover officiating. Burial in Freedom Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:30pmCT, Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the funeral home.



Leon Cravens, Adair County, KY (1941-2012)


He was born Thursday, January 9, 1941, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Melvin Walter and Kathrene Powell Cravens. He died Friday, September 21, 2012, in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY, at the age of 71 years, 8 months, and 12 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister; Leonard Earl Cravens, Melvin Thomas Cravens and Frances Harmon. Leon was a lawn care laborer around Columbia, KY, for many years.

Survivors include:
  • Three sisters: Cecile Alley, Norene Harmon and Raydean Burton all of Columbia, KY

  • One aunt: Rachel Corbin of Salem, Indiana

  • A special friend: Sharlene Cape of Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews and friends
