James Evan Peavey passed away on Wednesday September 19th , 2012 at the Casey County Hospital. He was born in Wess, Casey County, KY on February 6, 1923 and was 89. James Evan was the son of the late Fred Harrison Peavey Sr. and Gladys Vera Burchell Peavey. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday September 24th, 2012 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, 10167 State Highway 1547, Liberty, KY with Rev. Jeremy Atwood and Rev. John Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Peavey Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT.at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 Kentucky 49, Liberty, KY, on Sunday September 23, 2012 and after 11amET/10amCT, on Monday September 24, 2012 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.

James Evan Peavey was born in Wess, Casey County, KY on Tuesday, February 6, 1923. He was the son of the late Fred Harrison Peavey Sr. and Gladys Vera Burchell Peavey. He died Wednesday September 19, 2012 in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 17 days.

He was a retired postal service employee and a Member and Deacon of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and a U.S. Marine Corps WWII Veteran, He received a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster recipient and other recognitions.

Survivors include:
  • His spouse: Neoma Phillips Peavey

  • One daughter: Melanie Ann & (Chuch) Williams of Liberty, KY

  • Two sons: Glenn Evan & ( Kristy) Peavey of Louisville, KY, and John Phillips & ( Jennifer) Peavey of Louisville, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Eight great grandchildren

  • Two brothers: Fred Harrison Peavey Jr. of Summerville, SC and Ralph Edward Peavey of Fair Play, MO.
