LW Women's soccer blanks St. Catharine 3-0 in MSC Opener Tonight in Columbia, KY LWC Women's Soccer hosts Bluefield College at Walter S. Reuling Stadium Special Sports Story ST. CATHARINE, KY - Three different Blue Raiders scored today to help the Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over host St. Catharine College. The No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 4-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-South Conference with today's conference opening win. St. Catharine falls to 2-2-2 and 0-1 in conference play with the loss. Despite being a one-sided affair - Lindsey Wilson out-shot the Patriots 21-2 for the match - goals were difficult to come by in the opening 45 minutes. Lindsey Wilson's Mia Persson -- the reigning MSC Offensive Player of the Week -- broke the scoreless tie in the 30th minute with her third goal of the season to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead. The match remained a one-goal Lindsey Wilson advantage into the break. Following the pause, Cecilia Ekstrand scored in the 66th minute to double the Lindsey Wilson score. Elizabet Madjarac needed less than three minutes to add the third Lindsey Wilson goal to push the lead to 3-0. - Chris Wells, Lindsey Wilson College This story was posted on 2012-09-19 04:04:11
