Vaughan Sharp, Taylor County, KY (1937-2012)

Mr. Sharp was the head of a highly regarded Taylor County, KY, family, with strong ties in Adair and Russell Counties of South Central Kentucky and elsewhere. He was the son of the late Editor and Publisher of the Jamestown, KY, Russell County News, a much honored leader in that community, Ben V. Sharp. He leaves four direct living descendants. He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and was an avid model airplane enthusiast. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of airman second class.

Vaughan Sharp, 74, of Campbellsville, KY son of the late Ben V. Sharp and Sina Mae Black Sharp, was born in Washington, D.C., December 8, 1937. He died at 5:00 A.M., Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Campbellsville, KY.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Vaughan Sharp was son of the late Ben V. Sharp and Sina Mae Black Sharp. He was born in Washington, DC, December 8, 1937. He died , Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 74 years, 9 months, and 5 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith.

He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and was an avid model airplane enthusiast.

He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of airman second class.

He united in marriage to Betsy Hopper on October 7, 1960.

Besides his wife Betsy Sharp of Campbellsville, KY and the following:
  • One daughter: Carol Sue Foster of El Reno, Oklahoma

  • Two granddaughters: Kelly Jo King of Columbia, KY; and Alexandria Foster of Russell Springs, KY

  • One grandson: C.J. Johnson of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Alice McKinney of Wingate, Indiana, Barbara Zimmerman and Sue Navarre of Jamestown, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to the charity of your choice.
