Hospital Tax Recall certified by Clerk Sheila Blair: 780 names

Challenge would have to be filed in 10 days, or by September 20, 2012

By Ed Waggener

Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair completed the check of the Hospital Tax Recall Petition and found that organizers had 25 names to spare and is certifying its success. She will be reporting the results at the September 11, 2012 meeting of Adair Fiscal Court.

The petition needed 755 names to put the matter on the November 2014 ballot. The clerk certified 780 as valid.

At 4pmCT, Clerk Blair had completed a second validation, which reduced the total margin by 11 names. "I threw out the obvious ones where a spouse had signed his/her wife or husband's name in the same handwriting," she said.

Clerk Blair said that any challenge to the count has to be filed no later than 10 days from the certification, or 10 days from today, or by 4pmCT, Friday, September 20, 2012.
