Mattie Denham Perkins Glass, 99, Edmonton, KY

She was the matriarch of a large, highly respected Metcalfe County family. She leaves 26 direct living descendants. She was of the Baptist faith.

Mattie Denham Perkins Glass, age 99 of Edmonton, formerly of Summer Shade and Florida, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Metcalfe Co. Health Care in Edmonton, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 1pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, with Bro. Dexter Bacon officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Friday, September 7, 2012 at the funeral home.



She was a daughter of the late Jodie C. and Bessie Waller Denham and was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Isaac Dalton Perkins of Texas

  • A sister in law, Betty Perkins of Tennessee

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Twelve great grandchildren

  • Six great great grandchildren

  • In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin Perkins and Buell Glass, one son, Bobbie Lee Perkins and six brothers and sisters.

    Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Society or the Church of your choice c/o McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Rd., Summer Shade, KY 42166.
