Dr. Michelle Tucker receives CU Non-Tenured Faculty Award

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Dr. Michelle Tucker, associate professor of social work at Campbellsville University, received the Non-Tenured Faculty Award at the first chapel of the semester Wednesday, August 29. 2012.

Tucker, who has served at CU since 2008, was presented the award for her outstanding loyalty and commitment to Campbellsville University.



Tucker has taught undergraduate, graduate, online, hybrid, ITV and face-to-face courses in the Carver School of Social Work and Counseling. She serves as the assistant director of the Master's in Social Work Program.

She graduated from Taylor County High School in 1989. She graduated from Campbellsville University in 1998 with a bachelor of social work degree. She received a master of science degree in social work in 2004 from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville, and her doctorate in social work from there in 2008. Her dissertation was titled, "Predictors of Critical Thinking as a Component of an Outcomes Assessment in a Graduate level School of Social Work."

Tucker also taught at the Kent School of Social Work. She served as social service clinician for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Campbellsville from 1999 to 2005.

She was the Staff Person of the Year by the Lake Cumberland Foster Parent Association in 2003, and she served as chairman of the Lake Cumberland Region Foster Care Review Board in 2008 and as a board member of the Taylor County Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

She is a member of the Council on Social Work Education and the Society for Social Work and Research.

She and her husband, Frank, have two children, Joshua and Sydney. She is the daughter of Mike and Kathy Ramsey of Campbellsville and Jerry Gupton of Miamisburg, Ohio.
