KSP Post 15 has five fatal traffic accidents in August 2012

Death toll for area for year rises to 27, compared to 23 same period in 2011; statewide, fatality toll is up, as well, from 470 to 475

COLUMBIA, KY - During the month of August, 2012 there were 35 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington. There were five fatal collisions during the month of August in the Post 15 area:
  • Spencer, Amanda S. of Columbia, KY was killed in Adair Co, KY on 8/7/12.
  • Barnes, Daniel Floyd of Lebanon, TN was killed in Monroe Co, KY on 8/11/12.
  • Boone, Martha of Springfield, KY was killed in Washington Co, KY on 8/12/12.
  • Short, James of Glasgow, KY was killed in Monroe Co, KY on 8/26/12.
  • Anders, Chelsea of Edmonton, KY was killed in Metcalfe Co, KY on 8/27/12.
This brings our yearly fatality count to 27 compared with 23 through this same period in 2011.



State wide fatality count stands at 475 compared with 470 through this same period in 2011.

During the month of August 2012, there were 1802 citations written, 335 courtesy notices written, 2411 vehicles inspected, 819 complaints answered, 76 motorists assisted, 85 criminal cases opened and 448 criminal arrests made.
