Adair County Public Library trustees attain state certification Beth Grant. Mary Knight two of 53 around state to complete certification program By Paige Sexton News from the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives FRANKFORT, KY (2012-08-31) - Beth Grant and Mary Knight, members of the Adair County Public Library Board of Trustees, have completed the Kentucky Public Library Trustee Certification Program. The program is the first of its kind in the state and is available to all Kentucky public library trustees through the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA.) It was created to provide trustees with tools to help them fulfill their responsibilities to the libraries and their communities. Fifty-three Kentucky public library trustees have completed the certification program, which is voluntary and includes five one-hour classes. Topics covered are trustee and director roles, effective board organization, budget and finances, policies and advocacy. Four of the classes were created by the American Library Association with the remaining class designed and delivered by KDLA staff. KDLA provides equitable access to quality library and information resources and services, as well as helps public agencies ensure that legislatively mandated documentation of government programs is created, efficiently maintained and made accessible For more information on KDLA resources, programs and services visit www.kdla.ky.gov or call 502-564-8300 ext. 315.
