New Log Cabin Art Shop, Campbellsville U, opens Sept. 4, 2012 Click on headline for full story, photo(s) By Joan C. McKinney News of the Arts from Campbellsville University CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University's new Log Cabin Art Shop, 503 N. Columbia Avenue in Campbellsville, KY, will be open to the public Tuesday, September 4, 2012 The hours will be 11am-2pmET/10am-1pmCT, Tuesday through Saturday.. Among the artists whose work is for sale are: Carolyn Ogden, Cora Renfro, Billie Sue Kibbons, Charlotte Humphress, Davie Reneau, Dwight Renfro, Dr. Robert L. Doty, Susie Trejo-Williams, Linda J. Cundiff, Lana Carol Houk, Henrietta R. Scott, Jaime Renfro, Renee Renfro, Hugh Leachman and Stan and Joan McKinney. The art shop features artwork created by CU faculty, staff, students and alumni. The shop is sponsored by the Campbellsville University Patrons of the Visual Arts of which Campbellsville artist Carolyn Ogden is president. The shop will be open extended hours for special events such as Homecoming and the annual Campbellsville Christmas Home Tour. The art shop will be closed on Mondays to set up new displays and will be closed on university holidays. Portions of the sales of the art pieces go to Campbellsville University as well as the artists. Some of the artwork on display and for sale for the first showing include paintings, prints, watercolors, drawings, ceramics, greeting cards, purses, rustic canes, felted items, jewelry, pottery, photography and woodworking. The work is juried before it is displayed. Naming oppportunities: Those who wish to do so can support the visual arts by naming a log, bench, gallery or the cabin in honor or in memory of a family member or special friend. Costs range from a chimney stone for $25, logs from $50 to $500, a bench for $1,000, small log cabin art gallery for $2,500, main log cabin art gallery for $5,000 and the log cabin art shop for $10,000.
