David Rasmussen Westlake CEO as of Mon., Aug. 27, 2012

The Adair County Hospital District Board of Directors have hired David Rasmussen, recently CEO of Russell County Hospital, as CEO of Westlake Regional Hospital. The action to hire Rasmussen came in a Special Called meeting Saturday afternoon, August 25, 2012, starting at 3pmCT, and was over at 3:32pmCT.

Rasmussen will take the helm at Westlake on Monday, August 27, 2012.

He will be an employee of the hospital and will receive $9,500 per month during a probationary six month period, after which he will be paid $11,000 per month.

The salary is considerably lower than what previous CEOs at Westlake have been paid. It will be less than half the salary paid the interim CEO he replaces, Rodger Klein, whose contract cost was $25,000 per month.

Richard Grant, Secretary of the Westlake Board of Trustees, said that the new CEO comes to Westlake with over 20 years in Rural Health administration.

He became available under almost providentially fortuitous circumstances, with the resignation of Spectrum Health Partners effective September 14 and a change of ownership at Russell County Hospital happening in just the past week.

Central Baptist Hospital, the new manager of the Russell County Hospital, had sent in a new CEO there, and, through intermediaries, members of the Adair County Hospital Board learned of Rasmussen's availability.

"Obviously," Richard Grant said, "we're elated."

The vote to hire Mr. Rasmussen followed a brief Executive Session, followed by a two minute reconvening in regular session and a vote, with a motion by Vice Chair Craig Pyles, with a second by Treasurer Bruce White, to employ Rasmussen in the post.

The vote was unanimous, with Chairman Jim Evans joining in the 4-0 vote.

Currently, the hospital board has only four members. Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton said she expects to recommend a member for the fifth seat, to fill the unexpired term of Russell Guy Perkins, who resigned, at the next meeting of Adair Fiscal Court, set for 7pmCT, Tuesday, September 11, 2012, in the Adair Annex Basement, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY.

The Adair County Hospital Board of Trustees regularly meets each last Tuesday of each month, at 6:30pmCT, in the conference room of Westlake Regional Hospital, 901 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY. The next session is Tuesday, August 28 , 2012.
