Crash into tree stops fleeing suspect, ending 21 mile chase Trooper Nick Davis tries to stop vehicle on KY 55 in Adair County, KY and pursues vehicle through Clinton and Cumberland County, KY. Vehicle crashes into tree; driver airlifted to University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN and apprehended by Knoxville Police. The suspect, Anthony B. Ortkiesse, 28, of Fairdale, KY, held in Knox County, TN, jail awaiting extradition back to Kentucky were he faces multiple charges. By Trooper Clinton Walker, Asst. Public Affairs Officer Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY CLINTON COUNTY, KY - On August 21, 2012 the Kentucky State Police received a complaint of an erratic driver on KY 55 in Adair County, KY. It was later discovered that the vehicle had been stolen out of Lagrange. Trooper Nick Davis observed the suspect vehicle on US 127 in Clinton County and attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the vehicle fled. Trooper Davis pursued the vehicle through Russell, Clinton and Cumberland Counties of Kentucky. After a 21 mile pursuit the suspect lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, 28 year old, Anthony B. Ortkiesse of Fairdale, KY, was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Ortkiesse was apprehended by the Knoxville Police Department upon release and lodged in the Knox County Jail. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Kentucky. Ortkiese has been charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st degree - Police Officer. The Kentucky State Police is requesting that any driver who was run off the roadway by this vehicle to contact Detective Mike Dubree at 270-384-4796. The Kentucky State Police was assisted by agencies with Adair, Russell, Clinton, and Cumberland County. Detective Dubree is continuing the investigation. This story was posted on 2012-08-22 14:52:01
