By Barry Smith, President, Adair County Cattlemen's Association
Personal commentary

The Adair County Cattlemen's Board of Directors is proud to be part of Adair County's largest agriculture sector - livestock. Livestock alone contributes 33.8 million of the 43.2 million dollars that agriculture provides to our local economy each year.

Ranking 6th in the number of beef cattle and 2nd in the number of dairy cattle, Adair County also ranks among the top in the state in FFA. Reduction in instructors in agriculture programs will not only reduce the programs available in agriculture education but leave our future farmers less prepared to meet the challenges that lie before them.

Being founded and driven by agriculture, the Cattlemen's Association recognizes the importance of agriculture in Adair County and that it is beyond comparison to surrounding counties. Adair produces 12 to 34.6 million dollars more in agriculture cash receipts that any surrounding county.

The Adair County Cattlemen's Association Board of Directors urges school officials to maintain a three instructor staffing pattern for agriculture education at the Adair County High School. s/Barry Smith, President- Adair County Cattlemen's Association
