Brooke Harmon: What FFA means to me

By Brooke Harmon

Being able to serve as the 2010-2011 Adair County FFA President was one of my greatest accomplishments during my four year high school career.

To me, FFA is not just an organization but a family, and the agriculture classes are not just classes, but a way of life. Without FFA, I strongly believe that I would not be the person that I am today.

During my four years involved in FFA and being enrolled in all agriculture classes, I was taught leadership skills, self-confidence, team building skills, crop science, animal science, mechanic skills, and the true meaning of what hard work really is; skills in which that I use in day to day life. I worked hands on inside the classroom, as well as outside.

FFA is such a strong part of our community, and strive to help and volunteer at times any way needed. These students compete in various competitions and travel all across the nation.

The friendships made during these students career in FFA are those that last a life time, and the lessons learned are those that stick with them even after high school. The Adair County FFA Advisors are those who support and challenge their students to become all that they can be. I hate to see such a wonderful organization go through such turmoil.

FFA, the students I worked with during my senior year as FFA President, and all the memories and lessons learned will always & forever hold a special place in my heart. I pray that many other students throughout the years will also be able to say I was a proud, hard working member of the Adair County FFA! I will support my FFA chapter! - Brooke Harmon
