Lindsey Wilson offers Free Classes to region's Senior Citizens

COLUMBIA, KY - Area residents who are 62 years or older may learn French and Japanese, study Christians beliefs or examine the great speeches of history this fall at Lindsey Wilson College.

And the price is perfect - free.



As part of the Lindsey Wilson College Senior Scholars Program, area citizens who are 62 years or older may take one undergraduate class this fall at no tuition expense. Senior Scholars only pay for books and supplies for the class.

The program was created by the college as a way to show appreciation to the region's senior citizens.

"Lindsey Wilson is pleased to continue to offer the Senior Scholars Program," said Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr. "Senior citizens bring an important and valuable perspective to classes, and our professors enjoy working with them."

The LWC fall semester begins Aug. 22, but area residents have until Aug. 28 to register for a Senior Scholars class.

Classes offered in this year's Senior Scholars Program are:
  • "Art: 2-D Design," 7:30-8:45amCT on Tuesday and Thursday
  • "Communication: Great Speeches," 10:30-11:20amCT. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • "Elementary French," 11:30am-12:20pmCT on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • "Elementary Japanese," 11:30am-12:20pmCT on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • "Religion: Christian Beliefs," 5:30-9:30pmCT on Monday or 3:30-4:45pmCT on Monday and Wednesday
  • "Religion: Creative Youth Ministry," 12:30pm-1:45pmCT. on Tuesday
  • "Religion: Old Testament," 10:30am-11:20amCT on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • "Religion: Small Church Ministry," 11:30am-12:20pmCT on Monday
  • "Religion: Youth Camps and Conferences," 5:30-8pmCT on Tuesday
