Setting up another Hospital Tax Recall signing for Fri. and Sat. Letter from Victoria "Vicky" Pike Personal commentary of the writer I have talked with committee members and we have decided to do another petition signing this weekend since some thought they couldn't sign the petition due to some misinformation in the media on who could sign. We are going to do it out here in front of my property at 3011 Burkesville Road at the junction of KY West 80 and KY South 61 across from Walmart 3pm-6pmCT, Friday, August 17, 2012 and again from 12pm noon CT, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the same location. Hopefully those who thought they couldn't sign will be able to do so then. This petition is about one thing and one thing only: As it says on the petition: I am opposed to the 3.7 cents tax per $100 of accessed property value levied on the taxpayers of Adair County by the Adair County Hospital Board. There is nothing in there that says anything about closing the hospital or raising taxes. We need a hospital in our county, but we also need open, honest government that tells the people the truth about exactly how our tax dollars are being spent. It is the people's right to vote on this matter. Voting is one of our most basis ideas and to say we can't vote on something is basically saying that the citizen is not competent to make the decision on whether he or she wants to be taxed, so WE will make it for them. Let the people decide. The people of our county are very angry about what has been done to them and want answers. This petition allows them to be heard. The petition is available to all who want to sign. We will be here until this thing is done, one way or the other, standing up the the ordinary citizens right to vote. There are still petitions in most all the country stores in the county. The stores are not responsible for the petition. If anyone needs to know an exact location, please call me at 384-3348 or 634-2604 and we will try to locate the one near you. s/Vicky Pike This story was posted on 2012-08-14 13:02:18
