Grass clippings blown on roadways endanger cyclists By Joe Hare I have noticed from time to time that we as motorcycle riders have a problem when traveling of two lane roads that have no shoulder, IE Hwys 80, 206, 704 and roads such as these. The problem is when mowing many people blow grass onto the road way. This is very dangerous, especially when the grass is wet, to motorcycle riders. A friend of mine almost went down Saturday due to this very thing, and you do not need to be going fast for grass to cause a problem, it is very close to being the same as hitting a patch of ice. Property owners as well as commerical lawn services need to remember that they are responsible for any thing that they have put on the highway. Should a bike go down where someone has blown grass onto the highway could be a very bad situation for all involved, especially the injuries a rider is likely to receive in such an accident. Please help make the roads a little safer for all bike riders, we will appreciate. - Joe Hare Ride Captain, Patriot Guard Riders This story was posted on 2012-08-13 19:35:31
