Secure job at Russell County Hospital

Writer remembers early days in 1980 when the hospital had an excellent CEO, an excellent Director of Nursing, and a competent Board of Directors - and when the hospital always ran in the black. Hopes those responsible for the 2004 forward mess get their just reward. Says she's encouraged by the interest in getting honest answers

Carole Thomas writes:
As a 35 year veteran R.N, I am thankful that I do not find myself in the midst of the mess at Westlake.

As a healthcare professional, I hope that as Westlake and Adair County finds it's way out of this mess, that I can again someday speak of Westlake without shame and embarrassment.

There was a time that I was proud to be associated with Westlake, which was back in 1980 when we opened the hospital with an excellent CEO, Jerry Miller, and also an excellent Director of Nursing, Jean Meyer, and a competent Board of Directors. The hospital always ran in the black during that administration.

I hope that the ones responsible for the mess that started in 2004 will get their just reward, no matter what their administrative positions were. Adair County is angry and rightfully so.- Carole Thomas
