COLUMBIA, KY - Lee Ann Collins has seen the difference Lindsey Wilson College makes in Columbia-Adair County. She attended the liberal arts college, as did her daughter, Natalie.

That is one reason why Collins presented incoming LWC freshman Briana Bertam with the Community Trust Bank Scholarship on Tuesday morning. The $2,500 scholarship will be used to help pay for Bertam's tuition.

"We like to help the college as well as local students attend the college," said Collins, who is manager of Community Trust Bank's Columbia branch. "Lindsey Wilson is an important part of our community, so we like to do what we can to contribute."

Bertram, who is a 2012 Adair County High School graduate, is the daughter of Irvin and Teresa Bertram of Columbia. She plans to major in math education and wants to one day teach calculus to high school students.

"I took some classes here when I was still in high school, and I really liked the family atmosphere of the campus," Bertram said.-
