News from Adair Farmers Market

In a way, it's all about tomatoes today! We all got a great selection of all kinds. The weather is great this morning and already we've had a lot of friends stop by. Hope you will, too:Here's the list for those who arrived at 7amCT - in a different order than what you usually see, with the last to come, first:
  • Jeff Scott, Antioch, KY: Has just arrived (7:25amCT.) with a truckload of Ginger Gold Apples, followed by a shopper who wanted to be first in line for them. Yesterday he sold out quickly - and this may be the last of the Ginger Golds - so hurry.
  • Margie & Danny Rooks, Sano, KY: BIG Watermelons. Cantaloupe. Red Tomatoes. Pink Tomatoes. GreenTomatoes. Yellow Tomatoes. Yellow Squash. Cucumbers. Red Potatoes. White Potatoes, and a few Yukon Gold Potatoes. Hill Onions. Hot Banana Peppers. Sweet Banana Peppers. Green Bell Peppers. Eggplant.
  • Barbara Armitage, The Farm At Tucker's Station, Bull Run Road, Columbia, KY. 270-250-2979: LOTS of Tomatoes - Medium sized 4th of July with great color, flavor. Big meaty and juicy Goliaths. And Pink Tomatoes, just like the ones which came out of your grandmother's garden. Green Bell Peppers. And for one lucky person: The last of my cold-hardy Banana Trees. The only kind in the world which can stand our winter temperatures ($10).
  • Darrell Bunnell, Coview Farms, Coburg, KY. Call 270-634-8207 : Some fantastic tomatoes. - Red, Pink, and Yellow ones. Plus Cherry Tomatoes. Hot and Sweet Banana Peppers. Hill Onions. Bell Peppers. Eggplant.
  • Caitlyn Bunnell Helm, Coview Farms, Coburg, KY. Call 270-634-8207: Zucchini Bread.
And, by the way, a lot of customers are calling ahead of Farmers Market dates to see what we have and to have us reserve items for them to pick up. Occasionally, we're finding our entire production is spoken for for certain items. Thanks to everyone who is doing this. It saves time for everybody and gives us a chance to talk gardens with you or for you to do other things. - BarbaraThe Adair County Farmer's Market has new hours for 2012. Hours will be Tuesdays, Two Sessions at 6am-10amCT AND 3pm-6pmCT AND Fridays 6am-10amCT. Saturdays, 7am-11amCT.

Any Adair County growers interested in selling their locally grown produce at the Adair County Farmer's Market should contact the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service at 270-384-2317. -Nick Roy, Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources. 409 Fairgrounds Street, Columbia, KY
