Birthdays & Anniversaries: like a Daily Newspaper, in itself Thanks to everyone for making the CM Birthdays postings work so well Few features on ColumbiaMagazine.com have proven so popular as the Birthdays, Anniversaries, and In Memory Birthdays. Thanks to the people who have contributed to it, the total listed - nearly 10,000 - is phenomenal, considering the total population of the area. There's a big list today. "Birthdays and Anniversaries" each day is like a Daily Newspaper in itself! - for many, the first feature they read. There are still, in those thousands of listings, a few errors, and a few duplications. The list is edited daily, and if we're sure a change is needed, the edit is made. Readers have been so helpful. Just this morning, Melanie Ollery helped correct a birthday, which was misentered for July 23, and should have been July 24. It's been changed, and the birthday for this wonderful gift to Adair County in 1947 has been updated. If you see a change needed, click on the "Comments or Corrections" button with the Birthday, Anniversary, or In Memory Birthday needing the edit, and a quick update can be accomplished. Entries in the Birthdays feature automatically recur each year as posted unless we are notified otherwise. We're now posting Birthdays and Anniversaries for July & August. To see if a birthday is already on the list, or to check for a possible edit, click to Birthdays & Anniversaries, which gives birthdays for two months at a time. To submit a birthday, anniversary, or in memory birthday, use any Comments or corrections button. In Memory Birthdays are routinely posted at the time an obituary is posted and contain a single click link to the obituary of the loved one. This service is provided when the funeral homes include the birthday and/or birthdate (with the year) in the obituary, as most do in the Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties of Kentucky area. We also add, on request, In Memory Birthdays even if, at the time of submission, we do not have a link to the obituary. The Birthdays and Anniversaries feature is made possible by our advertisers. -EW This story was posted on 2012-07-23 08:51:56
