Elford Grant age 76 years of Columbia, KY passed away Sunday July 8, 2012 at 2:32pmCT at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY after an illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQuearyFuneral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.Clergy officiating will be Bro. Ronnie Janes and Bro. Elbert HadleyInterment in Fudge Cemetery, 847 Independence Ridge Road, Breeding, KY. Visitation is after 4pmCT, Wednesday, July 11, 2012.


Pallbearers: Craig Lyczak, Brian Lyczak, Tony Coomer, Gilbert Cowan,Dale Corbin and Danny Grant.

He was born on Wednesday, April 8, 1936 in Adair County.He was the son of the late Condy and Annie Burbridge Grant. He died Sunday, July 8, 2012, in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY, at the age of 76 years, 3 months.He is survived by his wife: Rebecca Claywell Grant of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Sherry VanKuren of Indian Head Park, IL

  • Two step-daughters: Diane Coomer and husband Tony of Columbia, KY; andCarolyn Cowan and husband Gilbert of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Paul Grant and wife Marlene of Breeding, KY

  • Two sisters: Hazel Hill of Louisville, KY and Jewell Sneed of Gradyville, KY

  • Two grandsons: Craig Lyczak and wife Shannon and Brian Lyczak and wife Nan ofChicago, IL

  • Two step grandchildren: Kavin Cowan and wife Nena of Louisville, KY andBobby Bennett of Columbia, KY

  • Four great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by the following: one son, Larry Grant on July 9, 1977; step daughter: Lisa Kay Branham on July 9, 1977; three brothers, Venus Grant, Sanford Grant and an infant Russell Grant; and one sister, Alene Patterson.He attended the Hadleys Community Church. He was retired from Klemp Steel in Chicago, IL. He worked at Whitney and Whitney Sawmill and for Herbert Gowen.He enjoyed Bluegrass Gospel Music, Nascar and gardening.
