Everything is a GO for tonight for the July 4, 2012 kickoff of the Adair County Fair, with Family Fun night starting at 6pmCT on the Main Track followed by the biggest fireworks event of the year in Adair County, starting at 9pmCT. This event, sponsored by Gaddie Shamrock, Bank of Columbia, First and Farmers Bank, Adair Fiscal Court, and the City of Columbia, regularly draws thousands who view the spectacle from inside the fairground, and fill the available spaces at Lindsey Wilson College, Gobblers Knob, Wain Radio Hill and the Haven Hill area, and points around town and out in the county.

Starting at 6pmCT, the all Free Family Fun games will offer medallions to winners and a total of $50 cash being awarded to the Needle in the Hay Stack event. Again, it's free, sponsored by Thomas Photography.

Events include the following, from Page 10 of the Adair County Fair Catalog:
  1. Simon Says. Open to all ages.
  2. Needle in a Haystack. 16 years and under, divided into two age groups
  3. Tire Toss. Classes for men and women. Event will be at the same time as Needle in a Haystack.
