Rotary Radio Auction raises over $6,500 for scholarships The auction was another example of the generosity of our community. -GK Click on headline for story w/photo(s) By George Kolbenschlag News from Columbia Rotary Cllub The Columbia Rotary Radio Auction Monday and Tuesday evenings raised over $6,500 in scholarship money for Adair County High School graduates who will be attending Lindsey Wilson College this fall. The auction Monday and Tuesday evenings involved a lot of caring people including those who contributed items to be auctioned, those individuals and businesses who contributed cash and most important the many people who tuned in and purchased things, some bidding well beyond the value of the items they purchased. Rotary was also fortunate to have the help of former Rotarians who jumped in and helped. Charles Grimsley helped with the phones Monday and Doug McCammish was the auction bookkeeper both nights. Three young women from Lindsey Wilson's Upward Bound program, Destiny Williams, Katie Passmore and Courtney Adkins, also stepped in to help. Radio stations WAIN and WHVE provided the broadcast time as they have for many years. Rotary Auction purchases may be paid for and picked up at the Historic Court House, 500 Public Square, Columbia 42728. Pay for and pick up the paperwork for your Rotary Radio Auction purchases at the historic Courthouse on the Square in Columbia from 1pm-7pmCT on Thursday, June 28 and again on Friday, June 29, 2012. The auction was another example of the generosity of our community.- George Kolbenschlag. This story was posted on 2012-06-28 06:55:46
