Ella Maxine Morgan Lacy, Louisville, KY (1920-2012)

She was a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, but moved to the Glensfork, Adair County, KY, when she was very young. She was a member of a highly regarded Adair County family, and the mother of Bill and Gerald Lacy. She attended Yellow Hammer Elementary School, Glensfork High School and Columbia High School. She graduated from San Diego State College in San Diego, California. Before her retirement, she was employed as an Assistant Controller and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer for University Mechanical Engineers Constructors in San Diego, California for 32 years. She was a recipient in San Diego, California of the 1998 YMCA Tribute to Women in Industry Award - for professional women who have made a significant contribution to their companies and communities. She was a member of the University Christian Church, SanDiego, CA. She moved to Louisville, KY in 2004 where her youngest son and his family lived.She enjoyed playing the piano, working crossword puzzles and reading.

Ella Maxine Morgan Lacy, Louisville, KY (1920-2012)


Maxine was born March 10, 1920 in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. She was the daughter of the late Charles Culbertson and Ella Maye Webb Morgan. She died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 92 years,3 months, and 16 days.

Her family moved to Glensfork, KY when she was very young.

Maxine attended Yellow Hammer Elementary, Glensfork High School, and Columbia HighSchool. Mrs. Lacy is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Gerald Lacy and wife Sharon of Altus, Oklahoma; and Billy Lacy and wife Donna of Louisville, KY

  • A sister in law: Deane Morgan of Murfreesboro, TN

  • And several nieces and nephews

  • Surviving grandchildren are: Gerald (Shirley) Lacy Jr. Altus, Oklahoma; Julie Lacy Sollis(Randy) Kyle, Euless, Texas, Tonya Lacy (Stu) Grossman of Miami Beach, Florida; and ToddLacy (Kristen) of Louisville, KY

  • Nine great grandchildren survive: Lucien Lacy, Larry Lee Lacy, Aaron Sollis, Brandon Sollis,Caitlin Sollis, Sienna Sollis, Kaitlyn Lacy, Taylor Lacy and Skylar Grossman
She was preceded in death by one grandson: William Lacy and by two brothers: Richard Morgan andCharles Morgan.
