Campbellsville Police arrest driver who damaged sally-port at jail

Driver reportedly drove his vehicle into the Taylor County Regional Jail overhead doors used by police to deliver prisoners to the jail. Elwin F. Hardin, 71, arrested on DUI, criminal mischief and wanton endangerment charges and lodged in the Taylor County Regional Jail

The Campbellsville Police Department initiated aninvestigation of Criminal Mischief after responding to a call of damage to the Taylor County Regional Jail overhead (sally-port) door.



At approximately 8:17pmCT, Monday, June 25, 2012, OfficerBrian Morgan was dispatched to the Taylor County Jail to investigate the report ofdamage to the building.

Officer Morgan observed Elwin F. Hardin, age 71; 115Durrett Street; Campbellsville, KY operating a 2001 Chrysler. Elwin reportedly drove hisvehicle into the overhead doors which lead to the sally-port area (where police vehiclesdeliver prisoners).

Officer Morgan arrested Elwin on violations of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under theInfluence of Alcohol; Criminal Mischief 1st degree; and Wanton Endangerment 1stdegree.

Elwin was lodged in the Taylor County Jail. Officer Morgan is continuing theinvestigation.
