Ralph Donald Reece, 86, Edmonton, KY (d. June 5, 2012)

He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded Metcalfe County, KY, family. He leaves 20 direct living descendants, and eight step descendants. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a retired school teacher, and a member of the Edmonton United Methodist Church.

Ralph Donald Reece age 86 of Edmonton, KY, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Friday, June 8, 2012, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pmCT, Thursday, June 7, 2012, and after 9amCT, Friday, June 8, 2012, at the funeral home.



Ralph was a Navy Veteran, retired school teacher and member of the Edmonton Methodist Church.

He was the son of the late Rufus and Betty Strange Reece.

He is survived by his wife Juanita Reece of Edmonton, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Don Allen (Freeda) Reece of Edmonton.

  • One daughter: Sheryl (Mark) Gossard of Clarksville, TN

  • Four grandchildren: Ben and Adam Compton of Bowling Green, KY; Ashley Bailey. Sheperdsville, KY; and Brian Reece of Edmonton, KY

  • Four brothers: Bob, Tommy and Billy Reece all of Edmonton, KY; and J.W. Reece of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters: Marguerite Sullivan of Edmonton, KY; and Martha Mitchell of Louisville, KY

  • Three step children: Judy Clark of Texas, Dr Robert Emig of Louisville, KY; and Janet Wender of Nashville, TN

  • Eight step grandchildren

  • and fourteen great grandchildren
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Jeanette Reece, and two brothers Russell and Leon Reece.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
