He was the brother of my grandpaw RT Baker. - Rick CaldwellThanks, Rick Caldwell: Was his name Vernon Baker? I remember him. A fine man. It would be great to have some of the photos of the old cab companies. I believe Walker Cab was once the biggest. Vanus Coomer had another fine fleet. But the most colorful taxi owner was an unofficial one: "Jimtown" Coomer. I know I'm leaving out some - and should remember them all. When we used to wait for the Louisville Times afternoon papers at the bus station, the cab drivers were always there, waiting for fares, waiting to taking people the last mile of the way.
