Was Greensburg's Tom Tabor same as Columbia's Tom Tabor?

Joe DeSpain writes:
Ed, Thanks for the photo of the Columbia Dispensary on Fortune St. I also noticed mention of Tom Tabor's place on Hudson Street. In April, 1937 Thomas A. Tabor opened Tabor's Cabin on the Campbellsville road near Greensburg where he sold whiskey, wine, gin, and beer. It couldn't have lasted long as the city voted to go dry in 1937, a vote certified by the Ky Court of Appeals in 1938 thus ending alcohol sales June, 1938. I wonder if this is the same Tom Tabor? - Joe DeSpain
I'm going to think, most likely. Tom Tabor was a bigger than life entrepreneur.

What a crime nary a one of the History Cousins - dang their hides - has written Mr. Tabor's biography, which would have to have more pages than Minnie Rubarts' history of Adair County education, to justice.

The last time I remember seeing Mr. Tabor he was running a health food store on Russell Road, just east of the Columbia Russell Creek Bridge. I remember him recommending some ginseng tonic, which he said helped him feel better everytime he drank it, and which had considerable alcohol - but not enough to be illegal.

Maybe Mr. Watson or Jim will know if he was once in Green County. Maybe you will write a biography. His life would also make a good outdoor drama - hint, Lanny Tucker - I'd think.

Thanks for reminding us of this really good man. He was always kind to me. Always paid his Courier-Journal bill first time it would be requested.I remember that, even more than I remember the scalawags who hid from their paperboy. - Ed Waggener
