Poetry by Robert Stone: Womb of war, a villanelle

Womb of war
- a villanelle reflecting on Ponder Anew, a WWII memoir
Never when
youth abloom.
Think again.

Always yen
known resume.
Never when.

Last hit den
mere kaboom.
Think again.

People pen
sure of doom,
never when.

Wiser men
dispel gloom?
Think again.

Beyond ken
where entomb
never when.
Think again.
- Robert Stone, 27 May 2012
