JIM: The surnames of 1902-1910 influx of North Carolina People, Adair Co., KY An influx of "North Carolina People," in the land above the river, in the first decade of the 20th century, brought some outstanding families to the area of Roley, Knifley, and Pellyton - now scattered throughout Adair County and beyond. They include the families with surnames: Barr, Calwell or Caldwell, Caudill, Chapel, Eastridge, Lewis, May, Phipps, Richardson, Sapp, Scott, Tedder, Wood, and possibly others About: JIM: News nuggets from 110 year ago (May 21, 1902) By Jim First Search for "North Carolina People" in Northern Adair County, KY I did a very cursory scan of just the Pellyton precinct of the 1910 Adair census and found a a few more Tarheel families: - Robert L. & Allie Sapp both born NC; two oldest kids born NC, last two born Ky.Followup Search for "North Carolina People" in Northern Adair County, KY added these names: Pellyton precinct William M. & Sarah Tedder; they and all kids except youngest (10 months old) born NC.Casey Creek precinct - George M. & Nettie Tedder, both born NC; all kids (oldest 7) born Ky.Any comments, additions, and corrections will be appreciated. - JIM This story was posted on 2012-05-31 07:32:45
